Vista x64 install succeeds...then nothing

I just installed 0.5.0 tonight on a Vista x64 box. The install goes well, no errors seem to pop up. After installing, I click the desktop icon to launch and nothing happens. There are no process running (eg, sabnzbd.exe), there is no folder in C:\Users\\AppData\Local. Any ideas what could be going on? I've restarted, reinstalled, etc all with zero success.
Thanks!
Version: 0.5.0 Final
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64
Install-type: Windows Installer
Firewall Software: Built-in Windows Firewall. SABnzbd added.
Are you using IPV6? no
Is the issue reproducible? yes

No, this is the first time I've installed anything related to SABnzbd! So far the experience is less than perfect.
Could this be related to Python? I did try running the command line executable in the SABnzbd directory, and it failed with a message related to Python and sqlite.

Try running SABnzbd-console.exe.
This will give show the the logging and any error report.

Looks like a screwed-up installation.
Can you check if this file exists: ....\SABnzbd\lib\sqlite3.dll ?
Do you have another sqlite3.dll somewhere in the system PATH?
This should be the content of the ....\SABnzbd\lib folder:

This is caused by BitDefender. I'm not entirely sure how, but turning off its on-access scanner while you start SABnzbd+ allows it to start properly. You can turn it back on once SABnzbd+ is running and it continues to work without any further problems.

Interesting...putting BitDefender into game mode allows SABnzbd to launch. Is this any AV software or just BitDefender that exhibits this particular problem.
I've not been too fond of BD since installing it; maybe this is an excuse to find another solution.

SABnzbd is often at war with "security" suites.
It does a number of very suspicious things:
- It opens a port for running a web servers (OK, most programs don't do that)
- It tries to send emails (OK, spamboys do that too)
- It communicates with DNS servers (duh)
- It accesses the Internet (oh boy!

)

Makes sense. I haven't found an "exclusion list" in BitDefender yet, but I'll post back here for future searches once I figure out how to get things working smoothly. I should note that I am only using BitDefender AntiVirus 2010 not the comprehensive Internet Security suite.
Thanks to all for your rapid assistance. I'm looking forward to playing with SABnzbd this week!

Consider switching to
Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free, it's just as good as a commercial solution (and has gone through independent verification along those lines), and it plays nice with SABnzbd.

Posting a quick update here. I haven't had any luck getting BitDefender to ignore the launch of SABnzbd. I've placed the entire C:\Program Files (x86)\SABnzbd directory + the sabnzbd.exe itself in the exclusion list. Perhaps it's something in the Python layer that is causing BD to freak out and block it.
Again, for those that find this in their quest for a solution: turn on Game Mode and launch SABnzbd, and everything works fine. You can turn Game Mode off right after launch with no apparent ill effects.
Or switch to Microsoft Security Essentials!
