download speeds

Hey all,
I've been using sab for over a year now and really love the way it works.
I've had Uverse (at&t fiber line) that was 12Mbps, so I had an average download speed of 1.3-1.4MBps download on Sab, which is just about as good as it can get with that throughput...

I've upgraded to Comcast cable hookup that is 20Mbps download... just did a speedtest from the PC that is running Sab and I actually got
22.21Mbps download, so the speed is great and working phenomenally...

But now when I'm not running anything else on the network I get an average of 1 MBps download on sab and sometimes even less?!
I'm quite confused and not sure if I'm doing anything wrong or what... the speed tests are showing great throughput but
my SAB download speed has gone DOWN even though my actual speed is faster than it was before with uverse.

I switched over to comcast 20Mbps download speed as of 2:30 pm today..

seems like I should hit 2MBps at least

Isn't comcast notorious for "traffic management"?
Don't rely on "speed tests", these are often artificially boosted by the provider.
If you want to know for sure, try an alternative Usenet client.
Sometimes it helps to use SSL for Usenet connections.

So over the weekend I tried a ton of different settings.
I bought a brand new modem that was docsis 3.0, which will achieve higher speeds than my old modem, and even hooked it straight into the machine running sab. The list of settings I tweaked and ports I tried would will up an encyclepedia, and I've now come to the conclusion that Comcast is absolutely throttling my speed. Going to switch back to Uverse immediately
