Hi, I just set up sick beard with sabnzbd but when I download tv shows through sick beard, I am having really slow speeds (200KB/s compared to usually 1MB/s plus). I think it might be because it downloads directly to my external hd, although it only appears there after it is downloaded. So maybe it would be faster if it downloads to computer first and then moves to the external hd?
So does anyone know how to set up sick beard and sabnzbd to automatically transfer files from internal hd to an external hd neatly?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

It's best to keep the "temporary download folder" locally.
This one influences the download speed.
Also, of you have enough memory, set an article cache in Config->General.
200M is usually a good value.
Not having an article cache combined with having the temporary folder on an external disk
is detrimental for performance.

Thanks for your reply.

I just looked in sabnzbd and this is the script log from one of the shows downloaded:

---------------------------------------
Loading config from C:\Program Files\sabnzbd\scripts\autoProcessTV.cfg
Opening URL: http://localhost:8081/home/postprocess/ ... 264-CtrlHD
Processing folder C:\Users\Birdy\Documents\Downloads\complete\South Park S15E14 720p WEB DL AAC2 0 H 264-CtrlHD

SB snatched this episode so I'm marking it as priority

Is ep a priority download: True

---------------------------------------

Does this mean that the temporary downloaded folder is actually on the internal hd in the complete folder, and it is being moved, once finished, to the external hd?

I also did what you said and set article cache to 200M anyway, although I am not sure what it does exactly.

I started downloading another movie to test out the speed of that, and got similar speeds to the tv shows - so perhaps it is just a speed problem?

I did a speed test and get this:

Your line speed is 16.73 Mbps (16727 kbps).
Your download speed is 2.04 MB/s (2091 KB/s).

But sabnzbd only is downloading at around 200KB/s?

Sorry about this.

It looks to me that you're downloading to the internal hard drive and then moving it.
Who is your news provider? What port are you using? How many connections?
Is it possible your ISP is throttling your speed?

I use UseNetServer, using SSL on port 443. I have tried other ports but it doesn't make a difference. I am using 20 connections.
I wouldn't know if my isp is throttling my speed. Probably wouldn't admit it if they are. It is better now, and am getting over 1MB/s, must be my ISP...

20 connections seems excessive. More is not better and can have an adverse effect. For example, I use 14 connections and download at 6MB/s with Astraweb.

Most ISP's, (mines Virgin Media) have throttling and/or fair use policies that will limit your speeds depending on the time of day/ amount downloaded.
Check with your ISP what their's is.

I assume you didn't restore your sabnzbd.ini file.
There won't be any scripts visible until you tell SABnzbd where they are in Config->Folders.
You'll have to fill out categories yourself again.

I'm having the same problem as trevorga, only I'm not sure how to restore the sabnzbd.ini file.
Can someone please explain how to get the scripts dropdown tab back under categories?

Go to Config->Folders and set a scripts folder.
