I downloaded something earlier and SABnzbd was running fine. Then all of a sudden, I get this message: SABnzbd needs a free tcp/ip port for its internal web server.
Port 8080 on 127.0.0.1 was tried , but it is not available.
Some other software uses the port or SABnzbd is already running.

Please restart SABnzbd with a different port number.

Press Startkey+R and type the line (example):
"C:\Program Files\SABnzbd\SABnzbd.exe" --server 127.0.0.1:8081

If you get this error message again, please try a different number.


Program did not start!
What do I need to do? I don't know where the StartKey+R is located.

The only way to access SABnzbd is to go into C:\Program Files\SABnzbd and select SABnzbd console.exe, which will then open up the Command Prompt and then it will open up the program. I have a bookmark on my Bookmarks Toolbar, but I will get a connection error when I press the button on the toolbar. As long as the command prompt window stays open, it will work fine, but as soon as I close the window, it will give me a error message:
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:9090.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Any ideas what's happening?

StartKey is the WindowsKey.
Use the Windows Task Manager to make sure SABnzbd isn't running in the "Process tab" (and if so stop it).
Then click once on Windows Start Menu and type
SABnzbd - Safe
If you see "SABnzbd - Safe Mode" click on it.

Ok, did as you stated and when I use the SABnzbd-safe mode I get this in my Firefox window:

Program did not start!
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times thinking that that might be the issue, but I still get this error when I try to start up the program. What is happening to cause this?

Possibly another program that holds the port.
Otherwise, there are quite a few firewall programs that are happy to interfere with SABnzbd.
What do you use?

I use Eset NOD32 and it's set to allow SABnzbd, so I'm not sure why this is happening when earlier today, I didn't have this problem. Why when I open up SABnzbd console.exe and the command Prompt window stays open then the program will start. But when I close the command prompt window, then I get the "Can not Connect" error message? Is it a bug in the program or something else?

Ok, so I just found out there's a 0.6.10 so I downloaded and upgraded to this newer version, and it's working again. Have no idea why but it is.

Possibly because the installer kills any currently running instance of SABnzbd

Well, Now it's broke again. Why???? I did find that after installing SABnzbd for who knows how many times, that even when I install it and check to start up automatically it is not and doesn't show in the task manager. Something is really wrong. But, what? I need help and have no idea what is wrong. have v 0.6.10 installed and it won't work unless I have the SABnzbd console.exe open. Why?

You say it doesn't show in the Task manager.
Not even under "processes" (so not regular programs)?

It shows in the startup folder, but not in the task manager or even the processes.

Update: When I reboot my pc, SABnzbd will show up in the task manager processes for a few seconds then it will disappear and won't have started, even though I have it in my startup programs folder. I have also tried to change the port settings from 8085 to 8080, and also the SABnzbd Host, and every time I save it and then restart SABnzbd, and I open it back up, it will be back to what I had changed from. The ONLY way to open up SABnzbd is to select the SABnzbd console.exe file, which isn't how it's suppose to work. I've uninstalled it at least 10 times now, and have reinstalled it, and it still is the same way, and I need to find out why this is acting like this and is broke.

Reboot your system, login and don't do anything special. So do NOT start SABnzbd-console by hand
Then open a CMD box, and type:

tasklist | find /i "sabnzbd"

Post the output here.

There's a log file here:

After startup of your system and the short startup/shutdown of SABnzbd.
open the log file and check for errors in the last part pf the file.

sander, when I put that into the CMD it comes back saying Invalid Switch. Now what?

Maybe it is your security suite that has some quirks at startup.
I suggest you remove SABnzbd from the Start folder
and start up manually from the icon on the desktop.
After your system has fully started.
