I think I got the basics of this program down, but I can't seem to do a simple thing like opening a file from within sabnzbd, such as a tv episode that I just downloaded (already unpacked). I figured I could just click on the file in the finished downloads section to open it, but that just brings up file information.

You can't. As SABnzbd we can't tell if the user connecting to SABnzbd is on the computer SABnzbd is running on. As such, we can't serve up direct links, because they very likely won't work.

In the past we've considered building a file browser and streaming functionality into SABnzbd, but instead opted to leave such functionality up to someone else to develop. Plex works pretty good in this area, but only on certain platforms.
