I go to speedtest.net and get a download speed of about 25Mbps which is about right for my subscription with my internet provider, but when I go to download something through SAB it will start at 3.0MBps which is how I feel it should stay but it drops to 1MBps within about 1 minute and stays there. If I pause the download and restart it the same thing will happen. It seems like it's being throttled. I have my max download speed set in the config to 5,000 Kbps so I know that's not the problem. Is there anything else that could cause this?

When you use another NZB-download-program instead, how does the download speed behave?

FWIW: another NZB-download program could nzbget (Linux, Windows, probably Mac): a bit raw, but very efficient.

Traffic shaping by your ISP can look like this. What happens if you try downloading late evening?

Well I have got 50M Speed acheiving 30-40M yet my download speed is 700k max through SABnzbd and Supernews Server... Why is this? Cheers

Check the standard things:
- Did you set an article cache in Config->General? (Use -1 if you have plenty of memory).
- How many servers and server threads are you using?
- Are you using wired or wireless networking?
- You are aware that SABnzbd show the speed in MBytes/sec, while you ISP talks about Mbits/sec?
- You're sure your ISP doesn't do traffic shaping?

On irc, the same stuff came up, turned out it was their isp throttling usenet. See this thread if you are a virgin media customer.

I'm using wired connection with article cache set to -1. I'm using 40 servers through giganews (I have tinkered with this multiple times with no changes.)

Start by *lowering* the number of newsserver connections to 5.
