Optional authentication for servers

Post by Mickbravo »

Hi,

I'd like to use the newsserver from my provider which is for free. But the free and "speed limited" account must be used without username password.
Now I found out if you leave those fields blank the username and passwords are still used.

So I can not use these free newsservers. Is it possible to make the authentication part of a server optional?
Thank you very much in advance.

Sounds strange: blank fields, but SAB fills out a username/password anyway? Where does SAB get that username/password from if the fields are blank?

Anyway:
Stop SABnzbd
Find and rename sabnzbd.ini on your harddisk
Start sabnzbd: it will start the wizard. Fill out the newsserver, and no username/password.

That did the trick. I renamed my sabnzbd.ini and created a new one through the wizard.
Afterwards I opened the new server section and copied it back into the renamed ini file.

Then I renamed the ini files backed and started the "service" again. I worked like a charm. Thnx for the suggestion.

Can you check your backed up INI file and see if there are a user name and password in it for the server?
It's a text file, you can open it with Notepad (or TextEdit or Vi).

I've been working on it, fixing up some pages recently and redoing others. O0
