I have a windows XP running SAB 0.6.9 and the web interface stopped working. I have the windows firewall turned off and I dont have any other firewall running to the best of my knowledge. Incidentally, my sickbeard web interface also stopped working. Please help.

Aha ... do you mean it's not your webinterface that has stopped working, but SABnzbd itself? You can check in your process manager (CTRL - ALT - DEL, and then ...). And haven't got Windows at my hands now, so I can't check the details for you.

If SABnzbd is not running at all, I would do this:
open a terminal with "CMD"
go into the directory containt SABnzbd.exe
do NOT start sabnzbd.exe, but start sabnzbd-console.exe and see what it says.

I am sorry, I should have mentioned. SABnzbd is running, I had a pending download which got processed right. Just the web interface, http://localhost:8085/sabnzbd/ is not working. I checked the netstat -b in the cmd prompt, it shows sab running a service on port 8085.

Interesting. Even more reason to stop sabnzbd.exe, and open CMD and in there start sabnzbd-console.exe. Post the output here in this forum.

It opens a window in the browser but it hangs there

It hangs (with a white screen), or do you get an error message in your webbrowser?

And which URL do you use: http://127.0.0.1:8888/sabnzbd (as in your logging) or http://127.0.0.1:8085/sabnzbd (as you posted earlier)?

(Brute force methode: find and remove sabnzbd.ini, de-install SABnzbd, re-install SABnzbd, and start it so that you get the wizard).

It hangs in a white screen. When I start the service through sabnzbd-console it goes to http://127.0.0.1:8888/sabnzbd as shown in the log, but when I try to open it from sabnzbd.exe and browser I use http://127.0.0.1:8085/sabnzbd, I have tried multiple combinations with 8080, 9090, 8081, etc nothing helped.

I tried the brute force method too. Didn't work. Thanks

What if you try another browser (Chrome)?

Is there a python or Java requirement that I might be missing?

Not likely: SABnzbd on Windows is provider as one big install. And you said you have de-installed SABnzbd, removed sabnzbd.ini, and installed SABnzbd, so that's a clean install.

Let's find out on which port SABnzbd is running. See the example. Note that "1736" is the output from the first command, and you should use your own output as input for the second command, which finds out tha SABnzbd is running on port 8090 (in this case).

After you find out the port (please post the full output like I've done below), we'll use another tool (wget) to test SABnzbd's web response

Code: Select all

C:\Users\Sander>tasklist | find /i "sabnzbd"
SABnzbd.exe 1736 Console 1 45.224 K

C:\Users\Sander>netstat -aon | find /i "1736" | find /i ":0"
  TCP    [::1]:8090             [::]:0                 LISTENING       1736
