Hi there,

I work on a Mac with 10.6.8 and Sabnzbd version 0.6.5.
Since 2 days I have problem with Sabnzbd. If I add a large nzb in the que, Sab wil begin downloading the files but the speed will drop after +-2 gb.
I cleaned the cache file and set the article cache to -1 but this doesn't solve anything.

Any help is much appreciated!

Check the log file and look at the end for clues.
Location: /Users/user/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/logs/sabnzbd.log
You can open it with TextEdit.
It looks like the crash detector does it's work, but the question is: where does it crash.

I looked it up and came across this:

2011-07-03 19:23:12,117::INFO::[__init__:940] Restarting because of crashed assembler
later in the file:
2011-07-03 19:23:54,619::INFO::[SABnzbd:484] ionice binary... NOT found!

and earlier:

2011-07-03 19:23:53,374::INFO::[_cplogging:55] [03/Jul/2011:19:23:53] ENGINE Bus STOPPING

2011-07-03 19:23:53,405::INFO::[_cplogging:55] [03/Jul/2011:19:23:53] ENGINE Bus EXITED

In my incomplete folder there's a folder called _ADMIN_ with a bunch of files called: SABnzbd_attrib and x.nzb.gz

hope this helps. On other computers the usenet server works so I think that isn't the problem.

That log line is the relevant bit.
Now to find out what actually causes it.
Can you email the NZB that causes the crash to bugs at sabnzbd.org (please include URL of this post).

Okay I emailed the NZB. I must say that the problem occurs with several nzb's ( most of the time when the usenetfiles are larger than 1 or 2 gb ).
I hope you have a sollution for this problem.

Don't you have anything smaller? Geez, 23G...
BTW: you're not using an external disk with a dodgy file system are you?
Did you do a disk check?

hehe this was something I could find.. Let me check if I got anything else for ya. I don't use an external hard drive and my internal hard drive is fine.

It should be logging something with this text in it:
Fatal error in Assembler
Can you check whether that occurs?

FIrst the only problem was the drop in speed but now Sabnzbd is sort of stuck in a loop where it reboots every 30 seconds or so.

Please send the full log file.
I just downloaded the first time using the non-compiled version: no problems at all.
Now running the original 0.6.5 DMG.

Okay I emailed you the log file. I don't think it's the NZB but Sabnzbd which causes the problem..

Let's try the rigorous solution:
- Stop SABnzbd
- Remove (or move to a save place) everything in
/Users/user/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/admin
- Start SABnzbd

This will remove the queue and the history database.
Then try again.

Just to be sure, you could re-install SABnzbd.

If that fails too, I have no other ideas, except that SABnzbd and your specific system are incompatible.

I removed the admin folder without any succes.
Than I went to appzapper.com and removed Sabnzbd completely (all settings were lost, but thankfully Sabnzbd is easy as pie to configure).
Haven't had any reboots or drops in speed yet but I'm still testing!
