Speed dropping when few MBs left..

Hey all,

I have a weird problem that started not too long ago..
every item I download, no matter how big or what kind, will download as usual very fast. Except for the last few MBs, where the speed will just drop from 10MB/s to 10KB/s and I have no clue as to why...
Never had this problem until I upgraded to 0.6.4 (? I think) and I can't tell you why.
Whenever I have a queue of downloads, it will just go on downloading at high speeds until all the items in the queue are left with a couple of MBs left, at which point the speed drops and I have to wait hours before my downloads are finished...
Can anyone tell me what to do?
Tried to search for earlier topics, but the problems I found were not very similar to mine, so I hope I'm not the only one with this problem...

How many newsservers have you defined?
Which OS?
And are you using wifi?

Hi,

I have this same problem and I never used to have it. This doesn't happen all time. I have only 2 news servers set up and the other one is actually only for backup purposes. OS is vista and non-wifi.My download speed seems to be a bit erratic, too. I've tried the fix recommended in other posts about that issue. I'm using version 0.6.5 now.

First of all the speed always drops of at the end because the last article
comes in over just one connection to the server.
Second if one of your servers is off-line SABnzbd will keep retrying
a missing article forever.
I'm not going to discuss the reasons for this now.
For this you should set any server that's a bit shaky to "optional" so that it
will be ignored after timing out too often.
Also, always have the option Config->Switches->"Only fetch articles from the top" to off.
(The only reason we have this option is for very low memory systems).
