I'd like to connect to the server: news.gmane.org but when I click on the Test Server button I get an error:
Could not determine connection result (501 Syntax error in message-ID)
I'm using port 119.

Are you sure gmane is a regular Usenet provider?
I have my doubts about this.

It's not: "list newsgroups" only shows gmane.* and gwene.* newsgroups.
EDIT:
http://gmane.org/ seems to tell is a mailinglist (discussion) platform. So not a binary newsserver, and thus not useful in combination with SABnzbd.

It is a good web interface to read mailing lists.
