Schedule One Time Events

I would like to suggest that one time scheduled events be improved.

Currently, it is only possible to schedule events for a specific day of the week (or to recur daily), and to recur each and every time at the specific minute and hour at the time of the week (or on a daily basis).

While I understand that this is non crontab itself, I would like to see if there could be a way developed to make the pseudo-cron system more robust.

I would like to suggest that:

1) A repeat every X minutes or X Hours be implemented. (may not seem logical yet, but I'm sure functions would come along, which we would want this to be there for as SABnzbd+ progresses)
2) The option to have One-time only events scheduled be made available. For example, if I want to schedule my system to start up only once a few days out, then stop before I get back from my trip, I would like to schedule that to occur one time and not have to set it to repeat, then have to delete it later.

Does anyone else have any ideas as to scenarios or functions that could be performed by the pseudo-cron system? I consider this a brainstorm thread so as to help the developers catch a vision for what could be possible.

The four sided box may appear to be flat when drawn on a one sided paper, yet has six sides in a three dimensional world. Think outside the box.
