I cannot get to the previews for my RSS feeds under 0.5.5. I have tried it using Chrome from the machine running sabnzbd (Windows 7 x64) and using Safari on my Mac.  In both cases it appears to "lock up" the page and I have to click a link to a different section for it to start responding again. I haven't tried letting it go for long periods of time but I have let it go for a minute or more and I never get an error or anything.  I have tried rebooting sabnzbd but I don't know what else to try.

Update:  I just checked and I actually have to click the sabnzb logo in the top left corner to get control back.  If I just click on one of the other sections it just reformats the RSS page to match the format of the requested section but the content doesn't change.

Does it happen consistently?
We've seen all sorts of quirks with Chrome, but Safari should work OK.
Can you try Internet Explorer, just to check that it isn't a browser problem?

BTW: When you happen to press preview when an automatic readout is busy,
it can take minutes before your preview is executed.
The preview will have to wait for the automatic readout to finish.

Also seeing this exact issue, running Sabnzbd 0.5.5 on Windows 7 64-bit. The issue happens with every browser I have installed, as below:

To follow up on this my Sabnzbd has the following warnings displayed shortly after attempts to view the RSS preview, although I wouldn't guarantee they are related:

They can be related, if the SABnzbd engine takes too long
to respond, the internal web-server gets impatient.
I'll look into this.
In the mean time, you can do another little test.
Stop SABnzbd and start SABnzbd-console.exe instead.
This will show a console window where you get a live view of what SABnzbd
is dong at any moment.
It may give some clues about what's going on.

What is your RSS readout interval?

I have the same problem with 0.5.5 in Safari 5.0.2 on a Mac.

Before I updated this morning, I realized one feed did not get picked up at NZBMatrix. I checked it on the site and there actually was a new episode. So I went into the RSS feed and clicked preview for that feed and strangely, the last night's episode was not showing up in the results!!! I saw the update notification, I updated and now I get no previews. I have an NZBMatrix API and I generated a new link for the RSS but nothing has changed. I left it there for 5 minutes and nothing. I don't think the browser locks up, it's just that the overlay is empty.

UPDATE: The feed in question kicked in soon (it's set for 30 minutes). Since it was a slightly different RSS URL, it picked up from the top of the season. But not only did it not get the last episode, it didn't pick up the one before it either. A show just posted on a different feed got picked up fine.

SABnzbd isn't responsible for nzbmatrix's quality.
When you suspect something is wrong, you can always just paste
the feed URL into your browser and you'll see the actual content of the feed.
When a specific show is missing there too, you know it's a nzbmatrix problem.
Otherwise it's likely a SABnzbd problem.

It sounds as if I might have upset you talking about NZBMatrix feeds. I apologize, I didn't mean to waste your time. I appreciate everything you're doing here. And of course, you are right: I pasted that feed into the browser and the last show did not come up. I will certainly use that simple 'duh' test if it happens again.

No offense taken, it's still a valid complaint.
SABnzbd's track record of RSS support isn't spotless.
Neither is that of the RSS feeds themselves.
This combination makes it hard for the users (and me) to diagnose problems.

I will look into this lock-up problem soon.

To help you diagnose the issue.

When the automatic scan is active, "Preview" will be blocked.
Each feed takes time to be processed and after each feed there is pause of 30 seconds.
So if you have 10 active feeds, it will take about 5 minutes to handle them all.
If your interval is 15 minutes, then during 33% of the time a preview will lockup.

It's not a very clever design, I admit, but it has been in all 0.5.x releases.
I can change this of course, a short pause would be the easiest.
However, I want to make sure that this actually the issue.
You can help by running SABnzbd-console.exe (Windows only alas) instead of SABnzbd.exe,
so that you can see whether SABnzbd is actually in a scan.
Do not download at the same time, because too much info will be scrolling over the screen.

So a high number of active feeds and a low interval will make the problem worse.

I've the same problem. The problem occured after installing 0.5.5 Final. I've the problem with firefox and IE. Went back to 0.5.4 Final and then i dont have the problem

You can stop testing.
I found the culprit (me!), it's indeed introduced in 0.5.5.
My remarks about autoscan preventing queue preview are still true,
but it has become much much worse in 0.5.5.

I'll fix it asap.
