Is there a way to run multiple files simultaneously?

At the moment it seems only the very first article of the first entry of the queue is downloaded.

The servers we have available are significantly faster for cached entries than uncached entries.  I would prefer downloading at high speed on some of the articles, but still have a slow article running slowly in the background.

Is there perhaps some way to limit the amount of connections used per queue entry, and running multiple queue entries at the same time?

Run two instances of SABnzbd with different work areas and speed settings.
As long as you don't go above the amount of allowed connections, that should work.

SABnzbnd will reuest as many articles simultaneously are there are connections available.
So I don't really understand your issue.

As an example we have slowfile.000 to slowfile.009 in SlowFile.nzb, and fastfile.000 to fastfile.009 in FastFile.nzb.

If slowfile is at the top of the queue, slowfile.000 will take all 5 available connections to our ISP's free news server.

With something like GrabIt, the 5 connections would be split among the first five files, Slowfile.000-004.
I could then manually place some of FastFile's files near the top of the queue so that Slowfile still processes, but some of the connections are used to download the cached FastFile entries.

Speedwise, my line can do about 200KB/s, uncached files only get around 10-30KB/s, while cached files can run at my full line speed.

If a single instance of SABnzbd could run multiple queues and/or somehow split the available connections between entries, that would be awesome...  For the time being I'll look at running multiple instances though.

We've got a bit of a unique situation here in South Africa.  You can still get local bandwidth for significantly cheaper than international bandwidth, and uncapped accounts are only now starting to become feasible, so we still make extensive use of the local news servers.
