SABnzbd loses connectivity....

Just started using SABnzbd on OS X 10.5.8
It works fine for a while, then sometimes the connection will just idle...the ETA goes down to 00.00.00 and the speed indicator is also 0KB/s
I haven't lost connection to the internet as I can still browse ok
I've left it for about 5 minutes to see if it picks up the connection and start downloading again...so far it hasn't done so....
Normally at this stage I have to quit SABnzbd and restart again and it will download fine.
Is there a work around for that or a fix?

Do you see any error messages in the Console?

It has now done it again but after about 5 minutes....it picked up the connection again and started downloading again....
When I was using Alt.Binz on a Windows PC, I did lose connection every now and then but rarely but then it would connect again in seconds and resume downloading....
Here's some info from Console....maybe someone can shed some light on this

No idea, there is no reference to SABnzbd at all.
It does say the OSX kernel reports an I/O error.
Hopefully OSX experts can tell more.

That's the internal webserver timing out for some reason.
It has no relationship with the actual downloading.
Do you have some software firewall?
How many servers and connections did you set?

I haven't installed any firewall software unless there's a standard one that comes with OS X (like with Windows), not that experience with mac just yet...
Only got one server set up with 20 connections....

Do you get any error or warning messages in SABnzbd itself?
What do you see?
Does communication ever resume automatically?

Hey - Sorry for the slow reply.
No.. I do not get any error messages... When download starts.. I get up to around the regular speed that my 50mbit can download.... between 5-6mb/sec.. then it drops and keeps dropping speed - and that starts sometimes after 10 seconds, other times after a minute or so - but over some seconds.. it falls down and only leeches with very very few kb/sec. And then it can stop... go back up to around 50kb/sec, stop... and then suddenly go up to around 20-50% speed for a liiiiittle bit, but then drops again.
Another thing I notice is that it also seems to 'hang' a little. So when I visit my localhost to view status.. it can sometimes take 5-10 seconds before the page loads. This is also a new issue.
And thats what happens all the time without me doing anything.
Tried on different computers now as well.
Tried reinstall.
Tried windows and MacOS.
Same thing....
I'm currently running version 0.5.4

You are sure that your ISP doesn't do traffic shaping?
When your queue is empty, you can stop SABnzbd and remove all
file in the "cache" folder.
Check Config->Folders first to see where it is located on your system.

Well I suppose I can try a different usenet client to see how that goes... just to test it.
But I can tell you.. if I for example download an iso image - linux based - then I run at around 6mb/sec

I found my problem.
Previously, all streaming while downloading (cache, temp folders and so on) were set up to use my NAS box... that apparently seemed to cause the problem. Now I set everything up to use local, except the Completed Download Folder... and now it all works and I'm downloading at 5mb/sec..

per my original issue with SABnzbd losing connectivity.....I'm now getting this error message sometimes when it loses connections......
2010-10-04 10:49:22,133
ERROR:
Too many connections to server news.astraweb.com:119
I've tried using 15 connections instead of 20 but that doesn't seem to stop it losing connectivity.
The only plus thing is that it does pick up the connection again....sometimes more or less straight away and sometimes it can take around 10 minutes for it to carry on downloading again...
Recently it has been losing connectivity more frequent than before.....
It's not my internet connection as it works fine on Alt.Binz on my pc....and as mentioned before...when SABnzbd stops downloading (loses connection) I'm still able to browse the internet.
