is there a way to force a certain api key for both installs of sabnzbd so that if im in either windows or linux at the time of a call from sickbeard it will download? maybe a certain config file in linux i need to edit or something? sickbeard is on a different computer than sabnzbd

How about copying one api_key into the other sabnzbd.ini file (search for api_key)?
