Disk error on creating file - easy to fix, but how to stop it from happening?

reproducible: was happening for every download
About 24 hours ago all of my downloads started failing with the disk error on creating file error in the logs. Nothing was showing up in my incomplete folder at all. The drive has over 500GB free. After pulling my hair out rebooting the system, checking permissions, checking the integrity of the drive and the phase of the moon, I decided to try deleting the folder and have SABnzbd re-create it in the same location, just for giggles. That worked. The problem is I have no idea why, or why SABnzbd couldn't write to the old folder. My worry is that at some point in the future I'll end up with another batch of failed downloads that I'll have to re-download for no good reason.
