It takes ages before download begins

I have managed to install sabnzb+ 0.5.3 on freenas. It works well but it takes ages before the actual download starts.
First I tried the 119 port with a normal connection. After reading some info in this forum I switched to SSL connection.
Also I have limited the number of connections to 8. My usenet supplier is newsconnection and they offer 16 connections. I have the 150mbit connection.
My internet connection is 60mbit.

Does anyone has the same issues?

When the download starts my speeds are fine.

The delay could be caused by a mis-configured DNS.
What happens if you use the numerical IP address of your Usenet server instead of its normal name?

I have tried the numerical IP adress but it looks like it doesn't solve the issue

We see this problem (except for the numerical IP) in varying degrees.
On Windows DNS resolving is instantaneous, on OSX it takes less than a second.
On the Unix variants it can take anything between seconds and minutes.
Very likely a problem with the Python library (or the way we use it).
We will look at this for a future release.

Right now it is working ok. After selecting the nzb it starts directly with the download.
I have only changed the newsserver adress into numerical.
At the time I did that it did not make any change.

So I assume that it was linked to a issue at the provider site.
