Sabnzbd+ not fully utilizing my bandwidth

Hi,
I am a new user, at least to SABNZBD+, have been using various others programs for the last 4 years. Now I have a Mac Pro and I also run Unison. My Internet speed is 100Mbit/sec, which means that ideally I should be getting 12-13MB/sec from my Usenet Provider. Unison achieves that always and it is very stable. The problem is that I prefer SABNZBD but it never maxes out my Internet. It achieves 8-9MB/sec. I have changed the cache size to 200MB (my Mac Pro has 16GB RAM), moved the temp and download folder to a separate disk (separate from the OS), disabled virus scanning completely, but unfortunately nothing really helped. What else can I do?
I tried playing with the number of connections and I configured SABNZB with 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50 connections. No change there either...

I welcome your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

PS: I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 on a 1st gen Mac Pro @2,66Ghz (2 CPUs Dualcore) with 16GB RAM.

I wonder if Unison and SABnzbd report speed in the same way.
Have you measured the time it takes to download a (say) 5 GB job in both cases?

Yes,
Unison needs about 7 minutes and SabNZB 13.

I have also checked Activity Monitor and when I am downloading with Unison, Activity Monitor shows almost 13MB/sec (receive) and with SabNZBD it isnt stable at all. Most of the time it is around 8MB/sec but never over 9MB/sec

I just made another test. I downloaded an 8,8GB file. SabNZBD took about 19 minutes to finish, while Unison 10.

Odd, this time is not consistent with the perceived speed difference.
I assume this is the actual download time, excluding post-processing?
The latter we cannot improve, because we use (fairly standard) external utilities
for par2 check and unrar.

We already know SABnzbd is not a speed champion.
It's up to you to choose between absolute speed and automation functionality.

BTW: given that you use a memory cache, the virus scanner has little influence.
Not more than with Unison.

Ok, I rebooted my Mac Pro and now I am getting 12MB/sec! i don't know what changed, but I still find it a bit odd. Another thing I changed today, I installed a new hard drive. Before the system had three hard drives and now it has 4. i didn't change the drive where Sabnzb stores it's data, so I just think that was a coincidence. After installing Sabnzb I didn't restart. Maybe that was the issue.
