When I start a download my mouse and keyboard (probably my whole pc) don't react or react very slow.
When I pause the download everything is fine again. It isn't a 100% CPU problem.
I couldn't find any answers on the web, I hope someone can help my here at the forum.

Edit: Sometimes rebooting fix the problem, but I hope there is another solution.

A modern PC (anything dual-core) should have no problem with SABnzbd,
although it's a bit too CPU hungry. It definitely will not use more than one core.
Par-repair and unrar can thrash the hard disk quite a bit, potentially lowering
system responsiveness, but this is a general Windows issue.
During downloading,  your system should not be impressed.
Do you have an over-zealous virus scanner?

I use ad-aware and maleware bytes as scanners. That's all. Windows firewall off also don't fix the problem. The next problem I found is that the process: NT kernel & system uses 100% (1 core) of my cpu
There's also something wrong when using sabnzb and wmp.

wmp on => 100% nt kernel and system
wmp off => nt kernel and sytem around 0% but my pc is acting very slow. It has nothing to do with unpack/repairing.

To be honest: I don't have a clue.
SABnzbd on my own Win7 box downloads at 11MByte/sec and I hardly notice that it's there.

What may help in your case is to set a large memory cache in Config->General.
A good value is 100M, which will seriously reduce disk access.
Also set logging to Info or Errors/Warning.

Also you may have a virus scanner that likes to rescan files
completely when something is added to it.

It's a strange problem. Especially the media player combination with sabnzb that gives problems.
Thanks for your advice, I'll disable my scanners and check if there is a problem with them.
