Having some really strange trouble with sabnzbd 0.5.0 R3  as well as all versions in between v0.4xx

Using 10.6.2 running on a macpro. and when I am downloading the computer will lock up or freeze, or stall, what happens is that I guess the file I am trying to download is corrupt or giganews which i am using can not connect to all the streams or how ever it works, but the download will stop, in this process of stopping, firefox will not longer connect to the internet nor will safari, mail will not connect as well. ( this ONLY happens when SABNZBD hangs or freezes, stalls, ect... I try to quit sabnzbd but it will not.. totally unresponsive, I have to force quit sabznbd.. which when it does force quit, then it leaves nothing else of the following programs working.. Firefox/safari/mail..  they will not connect to the internet.. as well as trying to force the finder to restart results in a spinning rainbow beach ball. and then the computer much be hard restarted by holding in the powerbutton..

I can not understand why this is happening.. I am ok with the fact that maybe the file I am downloading has something wrong with it and is unable to finish the download. but if I have one file or a que ( line) of files, it will freeze everything, and nothing will download.. nor when trying to connect to sabznbd via firefox, as in llocalhost to see the web interface of sabnzbd it will not connect..

I have tired with a PC using with other clients and infact the file or files might be working as they should, as on the pc it crashes as well. with certain files, which files i do not know as it is just downloading from usernet and something or most of the time the files work but then if the files do not work.. well it hangs..

when using linux for example debian 5 or ubuntu 9.x.x it might also crash or I should say hang or freeze but IT WILL NOT KILL ALL THE OTHER DOWNLOADS waiting behind in the que ( line) it will just say file not finished or somethinglike this.. and the other files will still download and finishs.. This might happed mostly on BDMV files.. but it is also with MKV files as well.

So what I would like to see, is how to fix it so that it will not crash or freeze or hand the whole computer it will just let the file be and move on to another file as Hellanzb does for unix..

can anyone help . thanks for the time.. :)

Your story is hard to understand.
Is it specific NZB that is failing?
Or rather: do you have an NZB that will clearly show this behavior?

If so, please email it to bugs at sabnzbd.org with reference to this forum thread.

hey,

if its any help, i have this problem on two machines - a MacBook Pro running 10.6.3, and a hackintosh running 10.6.0.

the MBP isnt set to auto-scan, though its download folders are subdirectories of my Desktop.

the hackintosh is set to download to a second partition on the main hdd.

any help appreciated!

PS used 0.4.x for ages, never had a problem.  wish i hadnt upgraded now! :(

I have a very similar problem, but on windows, the computer freezes and basically locks up after sab has been downloading for a while, if I try to close the app it wont close, when I kill it, it wipes my desktop clean of everything, they comeback after i reboot. It starts off with me losing internet connection, basically everything that can connect to the net will lose connection or wont be able to connect, if any of my browsers are open they wont find the server etc, just like the OP's problem.

For me its related to a memory leak somewhere, well thats what the error popup says, I just made my own thread regarding the problem, not sure if its the same thing the OP is suffering from but his symptoms do resemble mine even though we use different platforms.

On Windows these kind of problems are often caused by
virus scanners and firewalls.
Obviously SABnzbd is not error-free, but freezes like yours have so far
been related to other programs interfering.

Did anyone have any luck figuring this problem out? I have the same issue.

My specs:
SABNZBd+: 0.5.2
MAC OS: 10.6.3
Browser: Safari

My download will work for an undetermined or inconsistent time then just stop and stop all connection to the net for everyone connected to our router. I cannot shutdown SABNZB and have to do a hard reset.

I had a similar issue when I was back in the US but there I had to reset my router to bring the network back up. This usually happened after an overnight 8 hr download session.

Maybe someone could take a look at my logs? Is there something specific I could look for on the log to indicate whats going on?

Cheers

The Windows problem is due to a bug in Windows (in combination with some virus scanners and heavy internet usage).
MS has a hotfix for it.
http://forums.sabnzbd.org/http://forums ... 449#p29449

For OSX there have been some reports but our OSX supporter cannot reproduce the issue
and doesn't have a clue about what it can be.
Not to deflect the blame, but your router is a bit suspect too.
If you have a lockup, does it help the others if you disconnect your OSX system from the router?
