10049 - Address not available

Hi guys,

Have been using this program for half a year now and I like it a lot! Recently upgraded to beta 6 and I was downloading a few nzbs a few days ago.
Half way through a series of files the downloads stopped and since then the program gave a 10049 error - Address not available, check for a internet of DNS error.
I find this quite weird since this happend during downloading: I haven't changed nothing at all, the PC was just downloading as it does as usual.

Every server I add gives the same error. When using Newsleecher I can connect to every server I wish while Sabnzbd won't.
However, yesterday, while using Newsleecher instead, suddenly Sabnzbd was connected again and downloading!?! However the following day: same error again: Sabnzbd not working anymore...

Version: 0.50Beta6
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64
Install-type: Windows Installer,
Skin (if applicable): Plush
Firewall Software: Windows Firewall (but disabled, same error)
Are you using IPV6? No
Is the issue reproducible? ???

There's one known problem in Beta6: the TestServer button doesn't work.
Other than that there should be no issue.

Normally such an error should not occur during downloading, unless there's been
a temporary Usenet server or DNS problem.
Anyway, the problem should solve itself after some time.
Did you wait long enough? Depending on the timeout and the number
of connections, it could take a while.

This problem is now taking several days so I guess I waited long enough.
I can't find any other users of the same servers with this problem.

Here's a part of my log showing some errors, does this help?

It means that something is blocking port 8081 on your system?
Check with the Task manager if you don't already have another
instance of SABnzbd running.

Other program? Some anti-virus tool or firewall that likes to be clever?

Thanks for helping me out first of all.

I have tried to shutdown other programs and I am uninstalling several others now but no result yet.
In my connections screen I see the following:

news.quicknet.nl:119:0 (Unblock)    Failed login for server

UNBLOCK is a link but when I click it the page seems to reload but nothing really changes.
Is this related?

The logging you listed is about the web server port that SABnzbd requires for it's UI.

So how can you get the error report about Usenet when you cannot
get the user interface running. Or is that problem already resolved?

"Failed login" usually means that you did not set the right
user name and password for the quicknet server.
Carefully check again. If needed, check the content of the sabnzbd.ini file.
Take note: you cannot edit passwords in Config->Servers,
you need to erase and retype the complete password.

Maybe my English was a bit vague but I can get in the UI perfectly. I have been downloading for 6 months.
No matter which server I add, of course with the correct login data, Sabnzbd won't connect while Newsleecher does with the same servers and data.

I cannot find any program which closes the port. I tried, 8080 and 8081 but both won't work...

Try to go back to Beta5 and see if that makes a difference.

That can't be it... Beta 6 has worked for days perfectly.
Just tried and installed Beta 5 but exactly the same...

I guess it must be some other program blocking SabNZBd or something...

Recent changes in Firewall, anti-virus etc. ?
Try going back to 0.4.12?
Or maybe a better test: lookup the numerical IP address
of your Usenet server and use that in SABnzbd.

ping my.news.server.com

Will tell you which IP to use.
I suggest this because it looks like a DNS problem.

No recent changes on my part. Sometimes you never know because of automatic updates etc.
I tried the IP instead of URL, a no go unfortunately...

I am having the exact same issue. I am using beta 6 on ubuntu. There are no problems with the usenet server, i can ping the ip. And i can connect to the server from another usenet client.
After loads of waiting I get maybe one or two connections that manage to access the server, but they seem to time out after a while for no reason.

Did you try the numerical IP of the server?

Yeah I did. It did not make a difference.

When you say "exact same issue", what do you mean?
The problem reported by JosevanDendermonde looks like a login issue.
Do you get that problem or the elsewhere reported "10049, 'Address not available - Check for internet or DNS problems'".
