No download speed

For the last couple of days I have had this waring message come upĀ - 2009-12-14 19:37:49,315 WARNING [downloader] Thread
1@news.virginmedia.com:119: [downloader] Server news.virginmedia.com:119 requires user/password
And currently have zero download speed
As I know next to nothing about computers I was hoping someone could help me sort this.

Doesn't the message "requires user/password" ring a bell?
Most Usenet providers require a username and password.
Check with virginmedia.com

Virgin media do not usually require a password. Not sure what is going on here, not on a Virgin connection at the moment to verify if there is something wrong with their servers.

That may be it then.
If I remember correctly virgin just use highwinds media's servers and if it detects you are on an IP from virgin it will let you logon without the need for a password (at a lower retention, the user+pass of a paid highwinds reseller would have to be supplied for higher retention).
If you are on a virgin network, I would contact their support.

The error message seems quite common. See

Maybe those forums give a solution. Otherwise contact Virginmedia.
