Hi.

I am using thhis beta on my Windows Home Server since this beta is for free download. The webinterface is great and i can connect to it from another PC without problems.

-CPU Usage with 5 Mbyte/per second ~ 35% (Dual Core 775 2.4 Ghz passive cooled)

-During the unpack phase ~ 90 %

- Reloading corrupted files is wonderfull, no problems till today

- Adding 3 different Servers. Yesterday there were 5 Servers and no once i could delete. So i edit the sabnzbd.ini to delete them

- No memory leaks. Max. 315 MB using from the 2 GB on the server (After ~ 18 hours nonstop downloading)

- i am thinking what i could miss in this beta but found nothing  still today.  ;D

- installing with anyinstaller für Windows Home Server and starts without problems always at booting the server

- Download Cache sets to 256 Mbyte. I have 2 GB RAM, are 256 MB ok? Server has still 850 MB unused.

Great product.

Code: Select all

What i could see that the speed is not constantly. Is this for usenet ok? Perhaps downloading one file and switching/beginning the netx one will cause this ?See pls to the image. thx

Glad you like it.

We are working on the phenomenon of uneven download speed.
My guess is that you download relatively large NZB's (say 15G+ of data per NZB).

If the memory cache is about the size of the largest individual file + 50% you're optimal.
BTW: you can also set an unlimited cache, SABnzbd will only use what it needs,
which is seldom above the mentioned size.

One day I'll make it properly WHS compatible...

- almost the downloaded files are between 100 and 200 MB maximum. Some are 400 but that is not so often. I will try to increase it to 400 MB Cache.

- I installed it with the remote desktop console. For me it is WHS compatible. Like an addin to install is for someone perhaps better but for me is this ok.
--> install, configure and start. All ok.

regards

Noh here is a network performance screen with set the Cache to 0 and let do sabnzbd the right thing :)

The speed is much more stable like before. Same server and same file.

It's almost impossible to keep a truly constant network speed
and this is not our goal anyway.
SABnzbd has to process incoming data (like yEnc decoding).
When you set cache to 0, you also let it write and read each article to/from disk as well.

The problem that I was referring to was not the spikes on your graph
but stops of many seconds, caused by saving the internal admin to disk
(which needs a queue lock that stops downloading).

i know. So i tried another usenet provider. The drops are away, so i tried a third...also away. Only at one provider i could see the drops. Sabnzbd has no effect to this speed drops.

I see that is possible to activate 2 usenet providers. I have now activate 2 providers with totaly 40 connections. CPU Usage is good in average 40% (Dual Core 2.4Ghz).

I have never saw this function at other usenet reader. Seems to bery fine. When one connection to porivder 1 is not stable, the provider 2 get the rest of the full speed.
