sabnzbd doesn't seem to be downloading anymore. I have NZBs that are queued (they are only a few days old at most), but it just doesn't seem to be connecting to my news server (giganews). The server is not paused. I've tried pausing and resuming but that doesn't help any.

OS: Windows XP SP3
Install-type: Windows Installer

Are you using IPV6? no
Is the issue reproducible? yes

Have you tried restarting SABnzbd?

When the queue is empty, check the cache folder.
If it still contains lots of SABnzbd_* files, remove them all.
You can also do that when the queue is not empty, it will clear the queue.

I did try restarting and that didn't help.

Clearing out the cache did fix it. Is this something that needs to be done on a regular basis, or is it just a workaround for a bug?

It's a work-around for a bug.
We plan to solve this problem in the next major release.

I'm running sabnzbd ver 0.5.3 and have the same issue.

No matter how I add files to the queue (nzb into dropbox, bookmark in newzbin, etc), the files are queued, not paused, but not downloading.

I have shutdown sabnzbd and restarted and also rebooted, but nothing changes.  Files will only start downloading when I manually change priority to "Force".  Once this is done, then files download, unpack and compile just fine.

Being new to sabnzbd, I'm not sure if this is normal behaviour, but I'm guessing not.  Can someone please tell me if I've missed anything in configuration?

You could at least upgrade to 0.5.4.

Same problem exists.  Any other ideas?

It could be that one job blocks the queue.
How is the setting "Config->Switches->Only get articles for top of the queue".
It should be off to prevent blocking.
The jobs that remains in the queue, is the culprit.

Love your work.  That was exactly the problem.

I had a RSS feed waiting at the top of the queue that was blocking the rest. 

This is strange, NZB retrieval (coming from RSS) should never block the queue.
I will check this out further!

It was a feed from the now defunct MyTVrss site. When I looked at the .XML there were no links. Not sure how it ended up in the DL queue - I may have clicked 'force download' on RSS page during setup. Hope that helps.

I am on Mac OS X and I have the same issue. I've done everything you said before, SABnzbd+ 0.5.4 still doesn't want to download my nzb files. If I wait long enough, it starts downloading, but at 6 Kb/s...

I've restarted it, rebooted, deleted it, redownloaded it... I've cleared the cache folder, I've unchecked "Only get articles for top of the queue"... Nothing has worked.

Besides, when I stop SABnzbd, it blocks on "Arrêt en cours..." (Shutdown in progress) and stays open...

Any Idea ?

Low speeds can indicate that the NZB is older than the retention rate of the server.
Meaning that the articles are no longer on the server.
Do you see any warnings in the "Connections" page?

i've got the same issue.. nothing strange in the logs. it just sits there saying "idle"
although under connections it says "secure.news.eu.easynews.com:119: Failed to connect: (104, 'Connection reset by peer') 5@secure.news.eu.easynews.com:119"
but has some connections underneath.

i've tried clearing the cache etc, rebooting.
it was working fine until a couple of days ago!

any help would be much appreciated!

What happens if you just restart SABnzbnd?
