Total novice.
My goal is to get read/write access to the newsgroup alt.comp.software.financial.quicken

Just downloaded SABnzbd (V4.3.3) and installed it (I think).

Not sure what to run to setup SABnzbd, then interact with the above newsgroup.

Can anyone help?

you need a newsserver / usenet provider. For example the one advertised on sabnzbd.org / in SABnzbd.

I have a news server, thanks. My problem is how to setup sabnzbd to use it.

What program do I run?

After I "installed" sabnzbd, I found 2 .exe files:
"C:\Program Files\SABnzbd\SABnzbd.exe"
"C:\Program Files\SABnzbd\SABnzbd-console.exe"

When I run either one, I'm presented with a screen (titled "Queue"?) that appears to want me to download something called NZB

How do I get to the point where I'm I asked to input the parameters to setup read/write communications with the news server/ newsgroup of my choice.

First check this:

In SABnzbd's upper right corner, click on the wrench symbol ("Status and interface options"), then click on first tab Status, click Test download 1GB.

What is the result?

I got several "Warnings".

I tried to insert a screenshot (using the Insert Image icon) but got only this:

Sorry, I'm unable to get any of those options to work.

I found a JPG to TXT converter; hopefully you can decipher the results.

Oh, eternal-september.org ? Not a real-world provider. See their website: "free access to text-only Usenet News.". Text-only, so not useful for SABnzbd.

I just tried, and I also get " EOF occurred in violation of protocol", So bad service.

So: get a real provider. Like the one advertising on the SABnzbd.org webiste.
