Syn DS224+ very slow while SAB is downloading

Hi all,

Just joined the community the past weekend after getting my very first NAS last Friday (fun!). So I'm very new to the entire thing.
I setup everything I currently need for Plex, and it works great except for the following:

The issue I'm currently facing is that the NAS is extremely slow while SABnzbd is downloading files to the point where any running service is barely accessible.

The DS224+ is running on its basic config; 2GB RAM and a single 4TB HDD. RAM expansion is already on its way.

I notice that disk usage is very high while SAB is downloading; could this be the culprit?
Would installing a SSD as a download/incomplete folder solve this issue?
Or would the RAM expansion improve things as well?

Thanks so much for your time and feedback.

A hdd is most likely the bottleneck.
Try reducing the speed, I don't know what your maximum speed is, but set it to half of that to start. See if your NAS can then keep up.
Usenet downloading is a heavy task for disk, cpu and a bit of memory. An ssd as temporary download folder will definitely help.

Thank you so much for your response. Limiting download sleed was something I hadn’t considered yet. I capped the line at 30mbps and was able to stream Plex alongside an active SAB download for the first time!
