Even more slow transfers on Synology ...

I'm trying to set up my new Synology DS1621+ with SABnzbd, previously using a DS418j, which gave me around 20 MB/s ... On that unit, I should have had higher speeds, but it said Internet Bandwidth was around 20MB/s, with 20 connections from Newshosting (my only Usenet provider currently).
I gathered that the slow speed was maybe due to the inherent limitations of the ARM cpu, when using SSL ...
Now I'm getting pretty much the same reading on the new and much faster 1621+, which puzzles me ...
I tried running openspeedtest directly on the NAS (1Gbe), which gave me a good 700 mbps internet speed, which translates to almost 90MB/s ... So why am I only getting 25MB/s at best?
Used cache 39.7 MB (55 articles)
System load 1.78 | 0.86 | 0.41 | V=4503M R=295M

Complete folder speed 158.6 MB/s /volume1/downloads/complete

16 GB RAM
512GB SSD Nvme read/write cache
DSM 7.2
SABnzbd 4.1.0
Tried AES128 cipher and 100 connections from Newshosting (max) ...
Any ideas?
