I knew how to do it on NZBGet but forgot how to do it on SABnzbd. Sorry.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.

Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

Use the Sorting functions. Or Sonarr, which has many more options to also handle download selection.
