Python 3.6 and nzbtosickbeard script

Hi,
Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS
SABnzbd 3.4.2
Python 3.6.9
I use the nzbtosickbeard script for my TV shows, but it now comes up with an error saying python 3.6 is no longer supported:
Please use a newer version of Python.
Python End-of-Life for current versions:
v3.7 in 550 days
Python 3.6 is no longer supported.
I am on the latest Ubuntu release for python . I manually upgraded python to 3.8, but this caused even more errors on SABnzbd so I reverted back. I'm guessing I should bite the bullet and upgrade Ubuntu to 20.04, but I suspect that will give me other issues.
Can anyone offer some advice as to how to fix this? Thank you.
