I was getting download speeds about 24 to 26 Mbps. In the last few days it's now around 7 to 9 Mbps. Ive read tips on adjusting the servers and other settings but only got a slight improvement.

Since the application didn't change, probably something in your network changed. Maybe inside your network, like wireless or router. Or your ISP.
In the Status and Interface settings window (the wrench icon), there is a 1000MB test download. What speed do you get with that?

I forgot to add what im running so...
Windows 8.1
AMD A4-3420 APU with Raydon 2.80GHz
6GB RAM
64b pros

Did the 1G test, the CPU was just under 50%
The Memory was just under 70%
The speed was around 6.7MBs

I should also add that ive noticed different download speeds depending on the file, some have gotten up to 12MBs. But on average it's around 6 or 7. Some as low as 3 or 4.

Also wanted to ad that i did a speed test on my system using Ookla. 84.3 MBps.

If Ookla gives you 84Mbps, then you can never reach of course 24 MB/s since that would be 192Mbps.
Seems it's not a CPU problem but something with the network really.
