Ok bare with me here. I registered with Newzbin, downloaded Giganews, and then downloaded sabnzbd. Every time I go to download something, sabnzbd opens up and says it needs a free port. I am a complete newb and can't figure out how to get all of this to work. I have read every faq and instruction but still can't figure it out. I think I just need it in the lamest terms possible! Any help is very much appreciated!

Thank you in adavance...

Which operating system do you use?
Do you have any other web-like services running?
Have you tried the solution suggested by SABnzbd (using another port)?

Please note you do not open nzb files with sabnzbd (at least not yet). Also note sabnzbd runs in the background whether your browser is running or not. Only launch it once, use a bookmark for bringing up the interface after that.

There are many ways to get an nzb file into sabnzbd such as
1) nzbdstatus firefox addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7617 (allows 1 click dl from newzbin, easiest to use)
2) Adding by url from the front page on the web interface
3) Uploading the nzb from the front page on the web interface
4) Creating a folder for sabnzbd to watch for nzb's and entering the path in config>folders then saving the nzb to there.
