Synology Diskstation Slow when Downloading with Sabnzbd

Hello everyone, I hope you can help me. I am running Sabnzbd 2.3.1-33 on a Synology DS416Play.
All works great and there are no problems downloading with Sabnzbd.
My problem is I cannot use anything on the diskstation while downloading on Sabnzb. I stream video (via Ethernet not wifi) from diskstation to kodi on a Nvidia shield TV box and this never use to be a problem but now I have to stop Sabnzb to watch anything.
Any ideas to rectify this so I can go back to leaving Sabnzb to run while watch things would be greatly appreciated.

You would have to find out what the bottleneck is, disk-performance or CPU/memory performance?
In DSM you can see the CPU utlization, maybe you can watch it to see if SAB is using too much CPU? In that case try to reduce the speed a little bit, this already usually does wonders for CPU usage. You could also reduce Article Cache in Config > General to 400MB, going lower than that would increase disk usage a lot.
If it is disk-performance (copying from/to NAS is slow when SABnzbd is download) then I would suggest to turn off Direct Unpack in Config > Switches.
You can also enable 'Pause downloading during post-processing', which also greatly reduces disk load.

Hi thanks for quick reply.
I have not tried to reduce the speed but I guess I just limit it under Line speed?
Artical Cache is already at 400M
Direct unpack is already off too.
I will try downloading a sample and see if reducing speed helps.
Thanks again

Hi I reduced the Line speed to 50% and there was a slight improvement but it still buffered.

You would still have to inspect what is the actual bad guy, is it really the CPU or maybe the disks?
Check CPU/memory usage in the DSM interface while you download & stream.

Check CPU/memory usage in the DSM interface while you download & stream.
CPU is running at 19%
Memory is at 9%
Disk is at 39%
Volume is at 59%

It is strange as never had issues like this before. It all worked well together

Is your diskstation doing transcoding (Plex) or it's really just serving as a file-server?
I would suggest 'Pause downloading during post-processing' maybe, but otherwise if the change is sudden I would inspect network quality (cables, wifi, etc).

Not using Plex just sending files to Kodi to play. Network seems to go quite high when playing and downloading but rest is low % Nothing else has changed so stumped at moment
