Weird issue with version of 0.4.* in OS X

Hello,
I keep running into this weird issue with my OS X install, please note this may have to do with my mucking around a bit also with my install of OS X too.
With all the 0.4.* versions, things start up fine, it does the first downloads ok, but in an about an hour or so the front end is totally shot. I am also beta/alpha testing the 0.5 version of the s/w and that seems to perform perfectly, no freeze ups nothing whatsoever.
I got a new Mac and I migrated the data from my old machine to this, and this issue appears in my new machine too(ver 0.4.*). The log files don't give me anything insightful to the issue. It seems like the web server front end seems to get knocked out in the older versions, due to something that I did.
I do use macports to manage other unix apps, hence my concern that I may have installed something that screws up SAB 0.4.*. Any thoughts?
Best,
