why were the speed limit settings changed in the first place? its more complicated now requiring a primary value be set before you can even place a limit value as a percentage (!!). Previously you could just tell it a limit value in Kbps. No percentages, no secondary values required and it actually worked no matter where it was set.
Why change this working feature at all?

It's easier, the biggest example being Glitter and how having a simple slider. No more having to type stuff, just slide to your desired value.
In the Scheduler and API you can still use byte values, for example 500K will set it to 500Kb/s.
Also in Plush there is functionality to easy set in Kb/s or Mb/s.
Just not in smpl, but that skin is getting seriously outdated.

I have a high speed internet (200Mb). I used to download stuff at 5.3 when I had a 50Mb connection. Now I simply get get past 3.2! What the heck is wrong? Can any o'youse help me out here? Is something blocking my speed?
I bave done the usual checking and everything seems to be OK: (Set the Article Cache Limit in Config->General. This will keep articles in memory and not write them to disk (which is slower). Depending on how much RAM you can spare, two good values are 500M (the M denotes megabytes and is required) or 1G (1GB). If you download a lot of rar files that are 200MB or large... yadda, yadda, yadda)

I'm seeing the same thing when going from 1.0.3 to 1.1.0. For the moment I have reverted back to 1.0.3

How many connections do you have set for your servers?
There have been some changes in 1.1.0 regarding the handling of connections.

I have a 50mbit VDSL connection. Maximum line speed is set to 5.3M. Connections is set to 20. Max speed is set to 95% which usually gives me a 5M download speed.
After switching to 1.1.0, the download was somehwere between 2M and 3M. I tried increasing connection to 30, but this did not help much.

Could it be that Sab can't handle that kinda speed?

I had the same problem with 1.03. I changed to 1.1.0 thinking the bug would be fixed, but no.

I can download torrents at 9.3 even 10M though. NZBs were always the faster... and I thought I'd be downloading at 18M at leat, but no way. So something is definitely the matter.
I REALLY WISH SOMEONE WOULD HELP US OUT...

Try setting it to 8 connections, at 8 connections there's a different way Sab handles the connections.
But actually it should work best with a lot of connections, like 30 or 50.

jESUS -- I set it to 50 connections and it just stopped downloading!
I changed it to 8 and it is now a bit better -- 3.1M.
But still... waaaaaaaay toooooooo sloooooow!

And I changed it back to 1.03 -- to no avail. What a bummer. Torrents are downloading much faster. How can it be???

You switched back to 1.0.3 and it's still slow?
In that case there's a problem with your server or the specific download you are trying to get. Is it a very old one?
Because 1.0.3 has been installed over 120.000+ times and we had no reports of decreasing speed, so I think it's safe to say that version works for sure.
