Hey I have been using SABnzbd for about 2weeks now, and I have noticed that when I first load it up I get connection speeds around 1066kB/s or above. But after about 20mins they drop to about 293.01 KB/s and stay like this for the rest of the day, this always happends?

Any Ideas? Thanks =)

SABnzbd+ 0.4.9
Windows Vista 64bit
Avg Anti Virus

Do you share your connection with anyone else?

Are you aware of Virgin's traffic management policy?

http://www.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management.php

Basically between
10am-3pm if you download more than 7GB of data on your connection you will be throttled to 500KB/s for 5 hours.
and between
4pm-9pm if you download more than 3.5GB you will be throttled to 500KB/s for 5 hours.

I mean share your connection with anyone else in your household.

Since your max download speed, and throttled download speed are both half of what they should be, this seems to suggest there is more downloading going on. Whether on the background of your pc or that of another.

Are you positive you are on the 20MBit package? Have you ever experienced speeds of 2000KB/s on any other program (web browser, ftp program, bittorrent ect)?

Are you sure there is not a program in the background also downloading? Try installing Netlimiter or similar to see if there is network traffic when SABnzbd is not running.

1.4MB/s is possibly still in the range of a 10MBit connection. All signs point to virgin media using their traffic management and you being on the Medium or Large package (10Mbit). 20 minutes of downloading at 1066KB/s is 1.2GB which is close to Virgin's cap for the medium package during the day, or large in the evening.

Net Limiter is showing my incoming speed for sabnzbd as 292.66kb/s Sabnzb is also showing this. No other programs are using the net apart from IE.
I am defo paying for 20mb

SABnzbd isn't always the fastest program, it cannot always use full bandwidth on slower computers.
Have to tried another Usenet download program (e.g. Grabit)?
