movie Movies and TV shows via SABNZBD Categories

Hi all

I have looked thru the forum for an answer, but nothing I found seems to work. I want to make sure I am using categories properly.

My 'completed' and 'watched' folders are the same: C:\ProgramData\NzbDrone\Downloads\Complete

Below are my Movie and TV Folders:

M:\Users\...New Videos\New Movies\A- New Movies (category is 'movies')
M:\Users\...New Videos\New Movies\TV Shows (category is 'tv shows')

Priority for both is FORCE, Processing is DEFAULT

The fields for the 'Groups / Indexer tags' are Movies" and TV*, respectively, but still, no files have moved.

The default folder is set up as FORCE and Processing is DOWNLOAD. I did have Movies and TV as DOWNLOAD as well, but that did not work, so just trying diff't things.

I have tried it with MP4, MKV and AVI files

Not sure what I am doing wrong

thank you

Completed and watched should not be the same folder.
If you set post-processing to Download, Sort will not work.
Choose +Delete.
Force is not a priority you should chose, normally.
It overrides any pausing.

thank you.

If I have 3 folders Temporary Download Folder, Completed Download Folder and Watched Folder, how does it know know to move the files in order of Temp to completed to Watched?

Instead of FORCE, should I choose HIGH? How does it each work?

Does the DEFAULT override the categories i created? How does DEFAULT come into play?

cheers

SABnzbd uses "Temp" to store downloaded files. It then verifies the files by running the par2 check.
Then it unpacks any RAR and ZIP files to the "completed" folder.
The "Watched" folder has nothing to do with the above.
That folder is just there for you to put NZB files in; SABnzbd will pick up those files
are starts downloading what the NZB files describe.

Priorities low/normal/high are relative to determine which jobs to download first.
Jobs with such priorities are stopped by in Paused mode.
"Force" is used to override the Paused mode.

The "Default" category contains settings to be used when a field of a named category has a value Default.

cheers

Could be, depending on what you want.
In this case, the "Complete" folder is used for anything that is not "TV Series" or "movies".
I cannot tell whether or not the "groups" column is correct. This depends on the indexer site that you use.

So I started from the beginning. removed all categories. The Default is now NORMAL/DOWNLOAD. Now TV shows will not even DL. Before everything DLed, but movies did not move. They get queued, the random files and RAR file is in my folder, but no DKL progress. any ideas what happened? thank you

"Download" is the wrong choice, it should be +Delete.
Otherwise you'll just get raw files, which aren't useful.
What do you mean "TV shows don't even download"? Do they get into the queue?

Hi again. First off, sorry for not responding. And to be honest, I am not sure what my issue was with TV. However, here is my question which I think might be related to this topic which is why I am adding to it. If I were to use the 'completed' folder as a directory for movie DLs from sources other than SAB, will SAB move them to the proper movie folder? So far, nothing is happening. Even when I move a movie file from my Movie folder back to the 'completed' folder, it stays there.

Or does it have to go thru SAB for SAB to move it via the categories option?

thank you

You use the Sorting options to move stuff.
The Sort options are triggered by categories.
You select a category for each download.
The option "TV Sort" (or season sort) has a list of categories on which it will trigger.
So you assign category TV to each TV show after you have ticked the TV category as active for "TV Sort".

Thank you

Per the below screenshots, I had, and still have, the 'Keep loose downloads in extra folders" checked. MY sorting was the same before I asked the question. To be honest, I am not sure if the categories are set up properly.

I even tried the below (from https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/configuration/1.0/folders), but no luck:
Create a folder inside your watched folder with the same name as one of your categories. Placing a file inside that folder will add the category with the same name as the sub-folder when it is imported.
Example: If you have a category called Random, place a file inside C:\WatchedFolder\Random and it will be picked up and assigned to the Random category (if it exists).

thank you again

crap, sorry. I see it here, but must be cached since 'incognito' does not show it. It was from google drive and I guess the only option is to insert the link without the previews being shown. The below should work, but I was unable to embed it even with dropbox. I included previous post as well.

I'm nog sure what the problem is.
You show pictures of your Sorting settings, but you say that categories aren't applied.
Let me try to explain how it works.
You set up some categories.
You set Sorting choices.
You enable one or more categories in the selection list in the Sort type you want.
You create sub folders in the watched folder named after your categories.
You put an NZB in a sub folde.
SABnzbd will pick up the file and apply the category.
At the end of unpacking SABnzbd checks if the category of the job has been enabled
in one of the sorting methods.
Be careful not to enable a single category for multiple sort methods.
