I am unable configure sonarr and SABnzbd


issues:
reject's host
reject's category?
sonarr just will not connect?

I have spent 2 days on this and am about to lose it.

any info greatly appreciated

With so little info, I'm afraid I cannot help you.
Please explain a bit more.

first time set up
when I enter host ie :
local host
8989 , 127.0.0.1 they all come back unable to connect
not recognized

i cannot place anything in the category ,
I want to place movie and TV
in the 2 categories but each time it is not accepted , category unknown?
I have an image i could post somewhere

For SABnzbd, the recommended host is 127.0.0.1 with port 8080 (also the default).
Does SABnzbd's web interface show up in the web browser?

Yes it does . I have tried those settings , occasionally it does not say unable to connect but then the category is not accepted.

It sounds like a problem in Sonarr.
You could enable debug logging in SABnzbd and check the log for API calls coming from Sonarr.

I set logging to debug . how do I start the process . would you like it posted here?

Category does not exist
no matter what is copy pasted into the category this is what I get
I am trying to set sonarr up for a hbo series and if possible some movies
but I think I will give up soon . going in circles ................

I assume SABnzbd and Sonarr are on the same system.
If so, they should use different port.
SABnzbd defaults to 8080, so hopefully Sonarr uses another port.
Then enter SABnzbd address 127.0.0.1:8080 into Sonarr as host:port.
Get the API key from SABnzbd's Config->General and put that also in Sonarr.

used all these settings again and now when I try and test it before saving
i get categoery does not exist?even if I leave it on the default tv setting?

Did you actually define any categories in SABnzbd?
I suspect that Sonarr expects specific ones.

I use both of these and have done for some time. I kept it simple, called the category "Sonarr", then pointed Sonarr to use that one. I never use the defaults as I never know if it's tied to something else i'm unaware of..

Additionally, create your TV folder, then inside create a folder "_incoming" and "shows", have SAB drop completed shows into the _incoming folder with no renaming on SAB's part other than "Replace dots in filename". Sonarr will pickup from that folder and keep everything nicely organized for you in the 'Shows' folder. If you have Plex, create your category and point it to the 'Shows' Folder
