using vpn

This may be a SickBeard or CouchPotato issue more than a sanznb+ issue but here goes...

I have a usenetserver account, which comes with a vpn. I would like the media center I use (windows 7 pro) to stay behind the vpn. With my current sab setup I use an ssl connection (not sure if that is important or not). I also have a ddns account set up to access my media center on the go(again, not sure if this important). When I have the vpn turned off, I have no issues pulling tv shows and movies from SB and CP, respectively. When the vpn is turned on, nothing can be grabbed to download. How do I get this to work? If this has been explained dozens of times please feel free to link to to the forum post or website.

Ultimately I would like to add shows/movies when I'm not at my home network like I currently do. After I get the vpn issue above worked out is connecting remotely to add shows/movies possible with the vpn up and running? Thanks!

My first guess is that you cannot have it both ways.
If you hide behind a VPN, then incoming traffic will still be directed
to your media center by the router.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if all outgoing traffic will be sent through the VPN.
I doubt if it will ever reach its destination.
You would need to setup static routing (on the media center) for the SSL path.
