Kernel Panics on MacBook

Post by Sean B »

Hey,
I am a long time user of Sabnzbd ans I have always enjoyed using it.
But lately I everytime get a Kernel Panic on my MacBook while downloading with this program.

I have already tried to downgrade the program the 0.4.7, but that also gives me the Kernel Panic.
I have also tested my system with a lot of other programs to stress it and see if my hardware is faulty, but that works ok.

If I get the Kernel Panic, then after the restart the log of Mac OS X said that the Kernel crashed by SabNZBd.

I have also tested with Bootcamp running Windows on my MacBook and that version works ok on my machine.

Everytime it starts downloading for some time, max 30min and then crashes my MacBook.

I am running on a
MacBook 13.3" C2D 1,83GHz
2,5GB Ram
Mac OS X 10.5.6

I don't know if it's a fault in OS X itself or the program, but I want to know what the source of the problem is and how I can fix it.

Thank in advance!

Try downgrading to version 0.4.6 as it uses a different, possibly more compatible version on par2.

Allright I'll take a look at that version then.
But are you sure it is the problem of the Par2 system? Because it even doesn't get into the par2 stage, it crashes while downloading.

I'll still take a look and let you know if it works out!

Allright, I have succesfully downloaded a couple of files with v0.4.6, and it works great again.

But still, why is it that the newer version does not work with my system (and before it worked great on my MacBook)?

Thank for the help!

I'm not sure why it doesn't work, but you are the second person I've seen with the problem. It must be something to do with the par2 client that we updated to in 0.4.7.

Although in your first post you did say it kernel panics when downloading, not verifying or repairing so I'm not exactly sure where the issue lies.

I'll have to look over the changes that effect OSX between 0.4.6 and 0.4.8.

Hi Sean,

Could you please test with 0.4.9 to check if you still have the issue.
We have replaced par2 binary by a new one, and I would like to know if that fix your problem.

Thanks.
