I manually move downloaded files from the completed file to a movie file (which i rename). Couch potato grabs directly from there. My issue comes from trying to delete the files from the completed file to remove duplicates. In some instances, i receive a "you require permission from unix\apache to make changes to the file" error. My CHMOD command is/was set at 755. I have changed the CHMOD command request to 777 in the hopes that i would gain access and be able to remove unwanted files as necessary (did not work)

My question(s) are as follows:

1. How can i remove those unwanted files from my completed file as i have duplicates or am i stuck.
2. Am i doing something wrong when it comes to categorizing / processing these files. It seems like i am doing something wrong here.
3. I set the CHMOD command 777. Is there any kind of security issue with allowing "everyone" to access this file?
4. My plan is to be able to contribute to this universe. What is the recommended set up permission wise to be able to do this. Please advise as i do not want to break the spirit of the community by not giving back.

And yes, in the case you have not figured out, i am a total noob so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Does all software run on the same system?
What kind of system is it?
Is it a local drive or an external drive?

software is on the same amahi system. I have configured both local drives and external through greyhole, but the drive in question is internal.

SABnzbd can only set permissions when it is the owner of a folder.
This is a condition for the base folders like "...complete" and "...incomplete".
Also, SABnzbd cannot change permissions below that level.
An example
/Volume1/SABnzbd/complete.
Suppose the "SABnzbd" folder has permissions that are not 777 (or at least 755), then anything below that (so the "complete" folder)
will not be accessible for other users, even if access is set to 777.

But i am trying to delete from the completed file and can not do so. Is there anything i can do. What should i have the permissions going forward?

You'll have to get ssh access to the system and examine the access rights.

Thank you for the information. it would have been the right direction to go if the answer was not so easy that it is embarrassing to admit, but for the sake of noob knowledge seekers everywhere, i will reveal my shame. Amahi conveniently has a button where you can reset permissions on the share list. Pressing it resets permissions. There it is. Thanks for your time. The product is awesome, and i will continue to learn and hopefully eventually contribute.
