hi all. I had a bit of a driver issue with a piece of hardware and had to resort to an acronis backup image of my c drive. everything is fine now apart from SABnzbd won't start.

I get the message...
SABnzbd needs a free tcp/ip port for its internal web server.
Port 8089 on 192.168.1.8 was tried , but it is not available.

There's stuff on the net about the error but it's mostly old and for MAcs. I'm running on Windows 7 64bit
so I have tried different port numbers in Chrome and just get the same result. I checked windows firewall and it's on, but I have created an inbound and outbound exception rule.

Sorry if there is anything painfully obvious here but the program just usually works .

Any help most appreciated as I have tried for a few days, reinstalling without success,

How do you start sabnzbd? From command line?
It seems you have given it a specific IP that might not be available anymore? Is this still the IP of your current pc after restoring the backup?

hi there and thanks for the reply. I usually start it just from the exe.

I did an ipconfig and got this

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::99bd:4617:dea8:ca02%18
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.3
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

I was looking for a config file to check but couldn't find any

sorry if this is a bit noobish as I have not explored the features of sabnzbd very much

Clear, it tries to bind to the old IP address but can't because the IP of the computer changed.

To fix, make sure the SAB exe is not active and press WindowsKey+R to open the Run box.
Enter in the box and press enter:
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\sabnzbd\sabnzbd.ini
Now search for the line
host = 192.168.1.8

Replace with:
host = localhost
Save.

Now SAB should be able to start.

hi I have now gone in and changed this and rebooted.

Good new is that I no longer get the error message
bad is that the loading hangs with black screen..

http://localhost:8105/sabnzbd

I did a ping on localhost, and get TTL response back ok

perhaps do I need to change the port in the config file
