How to handle too long file names?

SABnzbd sometimes chokes on a file name which is longer than Windows will allow. The path isn't unusually long (N:\Downloads\Incomplete).

SAB throws an error and puts itself into Pause saying it couldn't create the folder (because it would exceed Windows limitation). The only way I know of to get things rolling again is to delete the NZB & files ... which means of course the download failed.

Is there a better solution?

Try release 0.8.0Beta1 (see Announcements).

Or wait a week or two until Beta2 comes out.
(Because there are some unpleasant bugs in Beta1 that may or may not bite you.)

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll wait for Beta2.

How will this solve the problem? Do they allow renaming, or is it done for you?

Windows supports some clumsy work-around that can be used by software to allow longer paths.
BTW: it only helps when creating the resulting media files.
For the "temporary download folder" there are still a number of restrictions.
Most of these are taken care of without the user noticing.
