hi,

i am running sabnzb on a qnap box. when i download a file and extract it. the extracted file is not the right name. say i get a nzb file with a random name. when it extracts it always used to change it to the correct tv or movie name.

That's the choice of the poster.
You can use the Sort function to rename files.
See also the Wiki.

thanks for the reply.

didnt think it worked like that. here is a example

this is the nzb file name
Seinfeld.S01E01.The.Seinfeld.Chronicles.720p.HULU.WEBRip.AAC2.0.H.264-NTb

this is the file name that extracted
B7Gti616qN6psUAKUeTllbZEEtiTzm64TwL

so your saying the poster has named the file B7Gti616qN6psUAKUeTllbZEEtiTzm64TwL.

Yes, he/she did.
It happens a lot, likely to avoid DMCA requests.

Browse a binary group and that's pretty much all you'll see:

If I have a B7Gti616qN6psUAKUeTllbZEEtiTzm64TwL.nzb, I rename the file to something useful, and then upload it to SABnzbd

Other ways to consider:
- when uploading the B7Gti616qN6psUAKUeTllbZEEtiTzm64TwL.nzb, you can rename in the lower entry box of SABnzbd
- while still in the queue, you can rename a download
