When I send NZB's to SAB it seems like it is doing a file check, which takes forever but none of those switches are turned on. It will stay at 1KB/sec until it does whatever it is doing, then once that finishes it starts to download. I viewed the log and there's nothing in there at all that would explain why it is doing this.

Does the download complete correctly?

Are you sure you haven't enabled the option Config->Switches->Check before download ?
If it's enabled, SABnzbd will first check whether the post is complete enough on the server.
This is a relatively slow process.
