yEnc - Changing cached articles to files is taking ages

Hi,

I'm running SABnzbd Version: 0.7.20 on Windows Server 2012 R2 x64

The issue I am encountering is twofold. Firstly, the queue seems to start processing in a random way. The files at the top of the queue start, get to a certain point then another one starts, this goes on until I have about 4 or 5 files in progress, these files can be anywhere in the queue.

A recent example:

The second is that, presumably due to the sheer number of in progress files, the article cache is getting huge, which means that when a download completes it can take upwards of half an hour after the download completes for the decoder to actually catch up and assemble the finished download and start post processing.

I'm using usenetbucket (45 connections) and Astraweb (15 connections) and the server is on a 100 MBit link.

I have set the cache within SAB to 512M but this seems to make no difference either way.

This is not a slow system, it's an 8 core xeon processor, 32GB of Ram and SAB is decoding files on a 10K RPM SAS drive, but the decoding seems to take forever due to the sheer number of files being accessed to assemble the downloads.

Reduce the number of connections.
The marketing department determines the ludicrous number of connections advertised.
With most servers you can get the max speed with 8-16 connections.
Lower the amount of connections until you see the speed drop.
You can do this on-the-fly, the effect may take a few minutes.
