Any suggestions on this?

I assume you might say contact my Usenet provider, but I thought I'd ask elsewhere also. I already sent them a support ticket.

I use Astraweb. Their website was down last night and their Usenet service. Not sure for everyone, but for me yes.

I had three things queued up to download.

Today it's back online and I was getting really poor speeds, so I cancelled the first file that had started downloading. Speed went up nicely and I re-added the first file.

Now, every file I download is pretty fast, but it stops at the last 6MB or 8MB or so and takes like 5 minutes to complete!

A lot of them have blocks short. Things that have been uploaded to Usenet in the past week.

Any suggestions?

Probably Astraweb misses data.
Often their service doesn't seem to respond when you ask for missing articles.
This causes time-outs and retries.
This shows up at the end of a job, when SABnzbd is still timing out and retrying for minutes.
What is the time-out you set in Config->Servers for Astraweb?

I also use Astraweb & was only aware of it shutting down from your notice. I tried to restart downloads which I had paused overnight - everything was working normally on the 2nd March. But have failed to make anything work today. Have purged the entire list of downloads & then reloaded just one item but Sab is just not able to do anything. So I am hoping things will improve over time when & if Astraweb gets back to normal.

Thanks for the replies. I tried one file tonight, March 3rd).. First 180MB flew by quick. Last 10MB took maybe 1 minute, but it's not as bad as it was yesterday. I have a support ticket open there.. so I'll point them here as well to read it and mention someone else had a similar problem.

I got Astraweb since it was cheap.. and for the most part it's been reliable.. I tried Easynews, which is a lot more expensive, but with that I was able to download a tv show uploaded to usenet close to 6 years ago! I was amazed.

I spoke with support they said we shouldn't be seeing any problems now. I've only tried one thing and it went fine.
