Wanting to retain incomplete downloads

I thought the program did this so that any download that was in progress when the computer was shutdown was still in the queue when I next opened sabnzdb.
But it no longer does and so I occasionally l lose what was already partially downloaded.
Is there a setting for this?

It depends on how you shutdown your computer.
SABnzbd needs time to write its cache to disk.
It's best to shutdown SABnzbd first and then the computer.

Ah, thanks for that..
I never realised you had to SHUT it down.. So I found where to do that. but the partial downloads were not retained.
However I discovered under STATUS that they are "orphaned" and are listed. I can add them back into the queue and off they go.
I did notice a repeative error log saying that the .ini foile couldn't be written to and that the ini.bak file could not be created.
Has this anything to do with this.
Seems to me this all began when I rebuilt my PC and operating system a year or so ago. No idea why it should have affected this program.
Anyway, at least I can recover the orphaned downloads to the queue, that's a win.
Should I completely remove SAB and reinstall?
Oh, BTW it's version 0.7.20 running under win 8.0 desktop.

It won't hurt, but I doubt whether it will make a difference.
When does the INI error occur?
At the time of shutdown?

Not shure as I didn't look at the time stamp, other than it seemed to be frequently. It's not doing it at the moment although the orphans are still available to be requeued.
I'm going to completely remove SAB, even though I expect you are correct, but at least it will remove that from the possibilities.

Ah, well, there you go. I completely uninstalled SAB and removed the directory (only a few .tmp files Then restarted the PC and installed SAB again.
Oddly enough (well, for me) the orphans were still there and were recovered.
Now I can just close windows down, even without shutting SAB down ( but I will close SAB down if it's possible) , and the partial downloads are now still active in the queue.
Obviously something I did wrong back at the most recent setup of SAB.
Anyway, always well. Thanks again for your help.
