Installed sabnzbd on my Windows 7 machine. Thought I knew what I was doing but got stuck at my personal API key. Installation sent me to "OZnzb" to register but am already member and stopped at that point.
I typically use usenet-crawler to DL my NZB's.
Please help I am a newbee to this and don't understand how to get my API key.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.
Re: personal API key
SABnzbd has its own API key (to be found in Config->General)
which is needed by other programs and web-sites to send info to SABnznd.
oznzb also has an API key, which can be found on osnzb's website in your profile.
That key needs to be copied to SABnzbd's "Config->Switches->Site API Key".
