Bad downloads with "If you get the error: etc." txt file

Hi.

I've been letting Sabnzbd do its thing for a while, and today sat down to watch some movies. To my great surprise, most if not all are unplayable - they seem to be spam instead. Nothing I've tried plays them, including VLC which should play anything.

The common denominator is they each have an accompanying text file that has the content something like:
If you get the error: Can't play the file.

Install the codecs from the /Codec/ Directory.

Enjoy the movie!!
The .txt file is sometimes but not always named "If_you_get_error.txt" and there is an accompanying .exe file as well.

The movies are all different sizes, they seem to be between 700 and 900 MB. The accompanying .exe tends to be between 220 and 230 kb. Even the If_you_get_error.txt file varies in size, although it tends to be 137 bytes or less.

I seem to have downloaded 30 or 50 GB of this stuff. I don't have unlimited bandwidth, so this is not good, especially since it is ongoing.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any solutions? Any way to tell sabnzbd not to download these spam file movies?

Thanks!

Yes, well known. (See http://forums.sabnzbd.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17337 )

Solution: in SABnzbd 0.7.18 (or higher), go to Config -> Swiches, and fill out

"Action when unwanted extension detected": Pause
"Unwanted extensions": EXE

Then restart SABnzbd. SABnzbd will now early detect posts with an "EXE" (like yours) and will then Pause that download.

BTW: From which indexer do you get your .NZB's? Binsearch, or ... ?

Ah. Sorry. Didn't find that thread when I searched "If_you_get_error.txt". Hopefully this thread will lead future searchers to the right place.

Thanks! I've made the changes - now I'll just wait and see how it goes.

Is it OK if I put the preference to "Abort"?

I use CouchPotato's free options - Nzbindex, NZBClub and Binsearch. I also use SickBeard (Womble's Index,Sib Beard Index), but that doesn't seem to suffer from the same poisoning.

Thanks!
